Love Your Body, Love Your Self

“My body”, “my meat suit”, “the vessel I use to experience this planet”, whatever you want to call it, one fact remains: Each of us has only one body for this lifetime. How we fuel it, care for it, and maintain it, is solely up to the individual owner. Ideally, we hydrate it with clean water and energize it with whole, real food which has not been processed by man in an attempt to improve upon what Mother Nature has abundantly provided. Even though most of us probably have some idea how to eat for optimal health and energy, our mindsets towards our bodies are often very toxic. For many, it can even be to the point of self-loathing.

We don’t like the way we look because we carry too much body fat, or our skin is not clear enough, tight enough or smooth enough. The list of reasons we can find not to be in love with our bodies is long and varied. Becoming aware of these thought patterns, aware of our distaste for our bodies, is the first step towards loving ourselves more.

You cannot give to another what you do not possess yourself. Loving yourself unconditionally will open up and improve every relationship you have with others. Continue here….

Fitness: Fear Is An Inhibitor – Parvati Magazine

Fitness: Fear Is An Inhibitor, by Sandra O’Brien

I literally laughed out loud when I saw the topic for this month’s article. Even the best of us fall off the wagon sometimes, and I have been stuck in many ways the past several weeks. Workouts were sporadic at best. My eating was… well, let’s just say there is plenty of room for improvement, and not mention my affair with coconut cappuccino ice cream! This stuck mode was even stalling my relationship with my man. I wanted to discuss a topic with him for weeks, but didn’t bring it up. I have been the queen of procrastination lately, stuck in the status quo and afraid to move forward. Fear, whether acknowledged or not, is a very powerful inhibitor.

This of course, brings up the question: what is there to be afraid of? To move forward, we typically must let go of something. What we need to let go of, is something we have held tight for a long time and have believed, at one time anyway, that it served us well. In letting go of the past thoughts and habits, we create space for the new: something, someone, some situation which is better than we now experience. The issue with the new is, well, it’s new, unfamiliar, and unknown. What if letting go of the familiar creates something other than what we desire? What if the outcome, the reaction from another, is not what we hope for? Is it better to live with things as they are, even if not in total joy, than to let go and experience the unknown? I say no way. To continue the article go here

So much to be thankful for…

My favorite time of year is in full bloom!! Fall has always been a magical time for me. I love the colours of the leaves, the cooler temps allowing for boots and sweaters!! And it means Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I have so much to be thankful for every year but this year especially. I have 3 grown children who I am so proud of, who bring laughter and love into my world every day. I have 2 wonderful parents who have always been supportive and spoil my kids like no other. I have a handful of very good friends who over the years have been there for me through thick and thin. I have been very blessed to have met so many wonderful, inspiring women who started out, and many remain as clients but also have turned into my dearest friends. The only thing some say is missing is my ideal man! I don’t feel he is missing so much as the universe is setting it all up, preparing perfect alignment for the meeting ..or reconnection..stay tuned!!

Namaste,

Sandra

Which would you prefer to look like?

Which is sexier?

Both these women are a size 2.  Both look good, but the one one the right  is hotter, atleast I think so.  The main difference other than the tan is the amount of muscle each has. Muscle mass depletes as we age.  It’s the old use it or lose it mentality.  You will never get the look you desire, dense, toned jiggle free muscle by losing muscle mass. You will never achieve the look you desire by cardio. Period, not ever.  Not if your goal is to look less like the women on the left and more like the women on the right.  You must do some form of resistance training. No, you will not get man arms.  Not in my program anyhow.  You burn more calories, are stronger, and just down right sexier with more muscle on your body ladies!  Ask any guy and let me know what they say about it.   Not that we workout for anyone but ourselves but you can’t dispute the entertainment factor men can provide…but that’s another post ;)

Peace out! Always have wanted to end a post that way LOL can cross that one off the list!
