Fitness: Fear Is An Inhibitor, by Sandra O’Brien

I literally laughed out loud when I saw the topic for this month’s article. Even the best of us fall off the wagon sometimes, and I have been stuck in many ways the past several weeks. Workouts were sporadic at best. My eating was… well, let’s just say there is plenty of room for improvement, and not mention my affair with coconut cappuccino ice cream! This stuck mode was even stalling my relationship with my man. I wanted to discuss a topic with him for weeks, but didn’t bring it up. I have been the queen of procrastination lately, stuck in the status quo and afraid to move forward. Fear, whether acknowledged or not, is a very powerful inhibitor.

This of course, brings up the question: what is there to be afraid of? To move forward, we typically must let go of something. What we need to let go of, is something we have held tight for a long time and have believed, at one time anyway, that it served us well. In letting go of the past thoughts and habits, we create space for the new: something, someone, some situation which is better than we now experience. The issue with the new is, well, it’s new, unfamiliar, and unknown. What if letting go of the familiar creates something other than what we desire? What if the outcome, the reaction from another, is not what we hope for? Is it better to live with things as they are, even if not in total joy, than to let go and experience the unknown? What if today….

What if today you started  to become FULLY aware of how much you have to offer everyone and every situation
you encounter? What if today, you shared your thoughts in a meeting, in a personal conversation knowing it
would benefit another? What if you voiced your thoughts you normally would hold back
because you think it has no value?
It has value. Your words, your presence, has more value than you can imagine.  Make it so.
What others think of it is not your concern.
I want you to connect to the possibility that what you have to say is important.  Even if it doesn’t seem so
at the time. Know that it benefits someones life, even if you are not aware of it.
Time has come to step up and make a difference every day in someones life, in your life.
Start today.  It will feel good :)

I had first joined Bootcamp Goddess because of an opportunity I found online. I told myself that I’d do it for the 8-weeks but then move on to something different once my session ended. Fast forward four sessions later and I still found myself doing lots of burpees and squats along side my fellow bootcampers. I was hooked!

I was always an active person however no matter how much I worked out, my weight would never go down or would increase. Being part of Bootcamp Goddess, Sandra O’Brien provided me with the knowledge and motivation I needed to obtain my personal goals. She helped me to create a healthy personal diet within my comfort zone, and with an intense workout three times a week, I am now in the best shape I have ever been.

In addition to physical fitness and dieting, Sandra helped me to appreciate myself as a person and helped to change my perception on things, adding more positivity in my life.
